Is MacroInspector really free?
Yes, absolutely. We intentionally avoid subscriptions and hidden costs. Our goal is to make high-quality nutrition analysis accessible to everyone – with no barriers.
Is there an app available?
MacroInspector is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA). This means you don't need to download it from an app store. Simply open MacroInspector in your mobile browser, click on the share icon (iOS) or the menu button (Android), and select 'Add to Home Screen'. This installs the app directly on your device, giving you a full-screen experience and quick access from your dashboard.
Privacy & Security
Do I need an account?
No, you can start immediately and anonymously. Since we don't require a login, you save time on registration. Your data still stays saved on your device.
Where is my data stored?
Your privacy is our priority: All data is stored exclusively locally in your browser. We do not transfer any personal health data to our servers – you stay in full control.
Features & Data
How can I back up or transfer my data?
In the settings under 'Backup,' you can easily export your profiles, recipes, and logs as a file. You can then upload this file to another device to pick up right where you left off.
Can I sync my data between multiple devices automatically?
Yes! You can enable 'Cloud Sync' in the settings to securely synchronize your data using Google Drive or OneDrive. For maximum privacy, your data is end-to-end encrypted with a secret key that only stays on your devices. You can use the 'Pairing' QR code to instantly link a new device.
What if a food item is missing from the search?
No problem! You can add your own custom foods with all their nutrients at any time. Just click the plus icon in the search bar or use the 'Custom Foods' section in the settings.
Can I scan food barcodes directly?
Yes! Use the scan icon in the analyzer or tracker to quickly identify products. MacroInspector scans the barcode and directly shows you the corresponding nutritional information for inspection or logging.
